ZJ Energy Group provides solar based solutions for households and buildings, which is known as a net metering system.

Net metering is an electricity policy provided by EAC, which involves utility customers who operate self-generation electricity systems. In these systems, the electricity continues to be consumed from the grid and all the electricity generated from the solar panels is returned back to the grid.

A special meter is installed by the EAC that measures the difference between to total electricity consumed and the total electricity generated by panels that is returned back to the grid. As such, the customer only has to pay the difference between the two (i.e. net metering).

Our Process

Home Setup Process

The first step in the process is for the customer to obtain all required documentation, including 6 recent consecutive electricity bills. The customer can also authorise us to obtain the electricity bills on their behalf from the EAC. Once we have these bills, our specialists will analyse the consumption and come up with the required power for the photovoltaic system in order to maximise efficiency.

The next step is a site visit to the premises in order to establish the mounting system for the panels as well as to assess any other technical difficulties.

After these steps are completed, ZJ Energy Group can provide the customer with a detailed quotation for the job. Typically the investment return for a photovoltaic system is approximately 4 years, not taking into account any governmental funding that may be applicable at that time.

Installation Process

Our team of professionals will undertake the entire process of licensing the photovoltaic system. The entire procedure for the installation typically takes around 56 days, including approval times. Applications submitted to the EAC cost a flat fee of €250 +VAT, which includes the cost of installing the meter, connection to the grid and final inspection by the EAC. Application processing takes approximately 7-10 working days from the date of submission.

Why Clean your Panels?

The reason why solar panels must be cleaned is to ensure photovoltaic efficiency. An unclean panel runs the risk of producing less electricity and thereby reducing the profitability of the installation.

Regularly checking your panels and keeping them free of debris and dirt will ensure you are getting the most from your solar investment.

We therefore recommend that the customer ensures preventive maintenance which involves booking an annual maintenance appointment to verify that everything is in order.

This procedure should generally occur once a year and differs from curative maintenance, which involves the resolution of an identified fault or failure.

Solar Panel Maintenance

If you want to maximise the efficiency of your solar panels, you need to keep them free of dust, dirt, leaves, and snow.Anything that covers the photovoltaic cells will limit the amount of sun they can absorb. But your exact location also plays a big role in how much this can affect your system and what triggers it. Special attention should be given to solar panels situated in dustier areas if they are near farmland or next to a main road. These panels have far more dust and dirt to contend with and will require a more frequent clean. Bird droppings on your solar power panels are more detrimental than a film of dust. If you have a lot of trees nearby, especially deciduous ones, they will not only drop leaves on your rooftop, but will also attract birds. Both of these cause build-up and debris over time, making it more important to regularly employ solar panel cleaning services or efforts.

Inverter and House Maintenance

To begin with, we remind that the solar inverter is an indispensable part of a solar installation which converts direct current output into alternating current. It also comes in a smaller format, called a micro-inverter. Once a year, the air inlets must be cleaned so that the device can cool down properly. The indicator lights and various displays will be checked at this time. It should be noted that a solar inverter typically has an estimated service life of about 10 years. In addition to being cleaned and maintained, it will need to be replaced at least once during the service life of the photovoltaic system.

If you want your solar system to last as long as possible, you should have it inspected once a year. This comprehensive annual checkup will evaluate all components, ensure everything is working as efficiently as possible, and allow you to address issues that are affecting the health of your solar system.

The Optimal Period to Clean Solar Panels

There is no optimal period to clean one’s solar panels. However, the end of winter seems to be a more favorable time to clean them because the sun returns and output levels are on the rise. Lastly, there is no specific time of day to clean your solar panels either. Nevertheless, to avoid interfering with the solar output, you may want to opt for dawn or dusk when the panels are less warm.

Special coatings for glass to repel dust and reduce soiling.
Robotic cleaners to remove dirt at night without using water – they use soft brushes and air blowers.
